For the financial year 1 April 2020 to end of March 2021, the Heritage Gardeners contributed 453 volunteer hours.

October 2021

During Heritage Week, the Heritage Gardeners were presented with a plaque by the Moths and Butterflies of NZ Trust, to commemorate accreditation as a Butterfly Habitat.

The butterflies and moths most noticable in the garden include Red Admiral, Yellow Admiral, Monarch, Copper, Magpie Moth and White Butterfly.

September 2021 

In September 2021, the Heritage Gardeners became an award provider for the Duke of Edinburgh International Award.

Mulching

An area of natives was planted around the red hawthorn on the big lawn to provide shelter from the prevailing wind. Pictured: Frank and Denise from Wellington City Council spreading mulch.

Hazel harvesting heritage chard

Heritage gardener Hazel, harvesting heritage chard. Heritage seed sales is the main fundraiser for the Heritage Gardeners. This year 100 Von Sion daffidol bulbs were purchased and planted with money raised from seed sales.

Crown Joinery installed a bespoke bench on the verandah in early March. This was an initiative of the Glenside Progressive Association, funded by a grant from The Trusts Community Foundation.
