Wellington North Community Patrol - Helping to keep our community safe
The Wellington North Community Patrol will benefit from $300 worth of petrol vouchers thanks to the Glenside Progressive Assn. Inc.
At the recent meeting of the Association, the community patrol outlined some of the work they do to keep Glenside community safe. This includes reporting anything odd or out of place to the Police, such as graffiti, dumped cars and unusual behaviour, and reporting to Wellington City Council any dumped rubbish and street lights out.
Community patroller Jax says “In Glenside we patrol from Monterey Apartments to Willowbank Road and check all those places in-between. We check Glenside Road, Rowell’s Road, the Halfway House and Memorial, and monitor the railway gateways. We patrol Middleton Road and keep an eye on the chained access on the Middleton Road laybys. We check that street signs are straight and not damaged.
Previously the Association sponsored the decals on the patroller’s vehicle. Jax and Sabah, from Glenside, were the first volunteers to sign up for the Wellington North Community Patrol in 2007 and continue their good service to the community today.
