The Church Service

Welcome

Invocation

Priest: In the name of God; father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

The Peace of God, our heavenly Father,

And of Jesus Christ, the source of peace,

And of the Holy Spirit, the comforter,

Come upon this place and all who gather here.

Blessing of the Water

Creator God, of the rain and rivers, streams and lakes, you give water for life and healthy, to refresh and cleanse. Sanctify this water as a sign of cleansing from all the powers of evil; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who triumphed over evil on the cross and now lives and reigns with you for ever.

Amen.

The water is put aside for the Blessing Ceremony.

The Remembering

Let us pray. Compassionate God, on this day and in our gathering, we remember those in the Glenside area in past years who died an untimely death. We commend them to your loving care.

Visit us, loving Jesus, with your compassion, and wipe away every tear from our eyes, for you live and reign with the father and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Those present are invited to light a candle in memory of departed ones known to them.

Into your loving arms we commend them.

May they rest in peace.

Lord Jesus, you have shown us that sorrow should not be without hope for the dead that rest with you;

May all darkness be penetrated by your light;

All troubles calmed by your peace;

All evil redeemed by your love;

All pain transformed by your suffering;

And all dying glorified in your risen life.

Amen.

Those present are invited to join in the Lord’s Prayer in the language of their preference.

E to matoi Matua i te rangi

Kia tapu tou Ingoa,

Kia tae mai tou rangitiratanga.

Kia meatia tau e pai ai

Ki runga ki te whenua,

Kia rite ano ki to te rangi.

Homai ki a matou aianei

He taro ma matou mo tenei ra.

Murua o matou hara,

Me matou hoki e muru nei

I o te hunga e hara ana ki a matou.

Aua hoki matou e kawea kia whakawaia;

Engari whakaorangia matou I te kino:

Nou hoki te rangatiratanga, te kaha

Me te kororia,

Ake ake ake.

Amine.

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be your name,

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done,

On earth as in heaven.

Gives us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

As we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial

And deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours

Now and for ever.

Amen.

Benediction

God be our comfort, our strength,

God be our hope and support,

God be our light and our way,

God’s peace and blessing be with us.

Amen.
